Adrian Ungur storms past Daniel La Nava into last eight – Palermo Challenger 2011World number 123, Adrian Ungur from Romania eased himself into the quarter-finals of Palermo Challenger Tour on 6th October by defeating Daniel Munoz-De La Nava of Spain in straight sets. Nava was already lucky to reach the second-round after the fifth seed Andreas Haider-Maurer retired in the midst of the match due to gastroenteritis issues. Match just lasted for an hour and twenty-six minutes before Ungur wrapped it off and secured a berth in the quarter-finals. Ungur won the match with a set score of 6-4 and 6-3.It was a one-sided encounter as Ungur totally dominated the game and never allowed Nava any chance to settle in and strengthen his position in the match. Nava already had a lucky entry into the second round and it clearly showed off when Ungur made him run from one corner of the pitch to the other. Ball boys and girls were seen busy collecting balls behind the back of Nava most of the times.Ungur secured 56% points in the first set with an ace and ten break points to add up to the misery of Nava. His display was fascinating to watch and Nava was just amused throughout the match. He never seemed comfortable and always hesitated in the shot selection and hence ended up hitting the ball across the face of the net several times. Points flew for Ungur as he managed to grab the first set with a commanding lead.Second set was even more disappointing than the first. Nava played it with lost-heart and it appeared as if he just wanted the match to end. Half-hearted shots and lack of will to reach out for the ball were some of the highlights of the second set which Nava would like to forget as soon as possible. Ungur on the other hand continued his domination and grabbed the second set with an ace and massive 56% points winning ratio.Unger will now face Pavol Cervenak in the quarterfinal of the event.
