A.C Milan Vice-President, Adriano Galliani, has once again admitted that Mister X will not be a player who is already at his playing best.
Milan have been linked with a host of names including Marek Hamsik, http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Riccardo-Montolivo-c31049, Ganso and Cesc Fabregas. However, Galliani has ruled out a move for a big name player and believes that the club cannot afford to sign a top
player. He added that Milan do not have the financial strength to compete with teams from Spain and http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/England-c749.
Reports in the media suggested that Milan are looking to hijack Barcelona’s bid to sign http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Arsenal-c38429 skipper, Cesc Fabregas, but Galliani has denied the rumours. The 67-year-old stated that he will sit down and talk with the manager
about the possible transfer targets and will work out a plan. However, he believes that the squad is ready to defend their title and they can go into the new season with the current set of players.
Talking to the reporters Galliani said, “Mister X will not be a player already at the top of his game. We’ll just have to wait and see what happens. We already have a very competitive squad and can happily start the season as we
are now. If there are some opportunities, then we’ll have a look at them.”
“When I read certain names associated with us, I say it’s impossible. We do not have these financial sources right now, as because of various issues, we cannot compete with the English and Spanish sides on the market.”
Milan won the 2010/11 Serie A and ended a seven year Scudetto drought. The Rossoneri have now targeted UEFA Champions League in the upcoming campaign and Galliani is confident that the squad is capable of winning the trophy. Milan
have not won the Champions League since the 2006/07 season victory.
Galliani added that Milan’s television revenue is very less than what teams in http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Spain-c3011 and England earn and that is the reason why Serie A has fallen down in the rankings behind the Bundesliga.
