CEO intends to keep players at AC Milan
Adriano Galliani, AC Milan's vice-president and CEO, has said the club will only bring in new players without offloading any of its current squad in the January transfer window.
This summer, the Italian club acquired the services of strikers Zlatan Ibrahimovic from Barcelona and Robinho from Manchester City in a spectacular swoop late in the transfer window, during which Milan had already signed midfielder Kevin-Prince Boateng on
loan from Genoa.
The arrival of two world-class strikers has led to established trio Ronaldinho, Filippo Inzaghi and Alexandre Pato fighting for playing time at the club, with Pato having made the best impression so far by scoring six league goals in eight appearances.
Ronaldinho, on the other hand, is goalless in the Serie A, while Inzaghi was reduced to substitute appearances before suffering a serious knee injury against Palermo on 10 November.
Both players have been rumoured to be on their way out of the San Siro, while midfielder Andrea Pirlo has been said to be leaving as Gennaro Gattuso, Massimo Ambrosini and Mathieu Flamini have denied him playing time in the middle of the pitch.
"Milan never said they wanted to sell Ronaldinho, no one will leave Milan. Pirlo and Inzaghi will stay too," Galliani told Sky Sport Italia, adamant that none of the club's discontented stars are about to leave.
More major signings promised
Earlier this week, Ronaldinho admitted to being disappointed with the lack of playing time he has seen, but that he was not considering leaving Milan.
"I like 'Dinho's words when he says he wants to stay with us. We are proud of this, we never had any doubts on him," Galliani continued, adding that the club will be spending in the upcoming transfer window. "Ronaldinho's and Pirlo's will arrive in the spring."
Meanwhile, the 66-year-old dismissed speculation that Milan are courting City striker Mario Balotelli, who moved to England from Inter Milan in the summer.
"I did not meet him, we bumped into each other in a restaurant. He is a City player and so let's stop talking about him."
