Adriano Galliani would welcome http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Alessandro-c4710 Del Piero at A.C Milan: Serie A news
A.C Milan Vice-President, http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Alessandro-Del-Piero-c4726.
Del Piero star recently revealed his intentions of retiring at Juventus but the Turin giants have told the former Padova star to leave the club in the summer. The 36-year-old has not yet clarified his intentions of hanging up his boots and has opened himself to a move to another Serie A club.
Galliani revealed that the Rossoneri came close to signing the former Italian international in 1993 but unfortunately the deal did not go through. The chief is still regretting his failure to sign the striker early in his career but hinted that he can cover up for that regret by signing him now.
While talking to the reporters, Galliani said, “We nearly signed Del Piero in 1993 and failing to do that remains one of the great regrets of my career. The fact remains that before he went to Juve, Milan were interested in the player. Is it never too late? I have learned to define players as talented or mediocre, not young or old. I always prefer a talent to a youngster.
The 67-year-old admitted that Milan have the history of playing superstars like Paolo Maldini and Billy Costacurta until the age of 40, so it would not be a problem for Del Piero to adjust.
“After all, many of our stars like Paolo Maldini and Billy Costacurta retired at 40. Pippo Inzaghi is 38 and still playing for us.” added the Rossoneri chief
Galliani admitted that Del Piero’s experience would greatly help the Italian Champions as there is no substitute for experience. Milan would like to add the striker to their ranks as their influential midfielder, Andrea Pirlo, moved to the Old Lady in the summer and has made a huge impact at Turin.
Del Piero joined Juventus from Padova in 1993 and has gone on to make 682 appearances for the former Italian Champions thus far. The striker is Juventus’s leading goal-scorer of all-time with 285 strikes. He also holds the record of highest number of appearances in the club’s history.
