Indonesia’s in-form player Adrianti Firdasari powered her way into Women’s Singles quarter-final after delivering a spectacular performance against Japan’s Eriko Hirose in round-of-16 clash at the round-of-16 encounter at Yonex Sunrise Hong Kong Open 2012
on Thursday, November 22, in Hong Kong.
The passionate Firdasari, who participated in this tournament as an un-seeded shuttler in the main draw, put up stunning show of aggressive badminton and managed to overpower her Japanese rival in a decent fashion.
Indonesian shuttler had to employ her impressive skills and managed to stay ahead of her rival on crucial stages. She did not lose any set to her Japanese challenger and finished off the match with a reasonable margin.
On the other hand, the experienced Hirose failed to play her normal badminton as she committed many mistakes throughout the tournament and eventually lost the match without taking any game.
The impressive Firdasari showed an amazing aggression from the opening points of first set and she did not let her Japanese challenger to take even a small lead at the initial stage.
Indonesian lady played attacking badminton while staying focused in the arena. She proved that she has got top class skills by playing with incredible speed and control and remained toe-to-toe against Hirose who failed to take any advantage on score board.
Both ladies played at the same speed and remained neck-to-neck all the way in the opening game and no one could manage a reasonable lead until the break.
After the one-minute interval, the impressive Firdasari stayed focused in the arena and remained successful in maintaining her speed.
The aggressive play of Firdasari assisted her to maintain pressure on her Japanese rival as she did not lose grip over the pace of rallies and ended up the opening game with a reasonable 21-17 score on the board.
In the second game of this contest, the in-form Firdasari continued her supremacy in the arena as she played with remarkable speed and did not spare any chance for her opponent to put up strong show in the opening half.
Until the mid-game interval, the impressive Indonesian shuttler remained successful in getting a strong position as she did not let Hirose to take charge of rallies at any stage and remained positive on court.
After the break, Firdasari continued putting up top class performance without dropping her speed at any stage in the concluding half and remained successful in winding up the second game with a reasonable 21-19 score on the board.
The in-form Indonesian lady managed to secure her place in Women’s Singles quarter-final as she emerged as victorious in round-of-16 battle where she outplayed Hirose in straight games with a decent margin of 21-17 and 21-19.
