Adrianti Firdasari ousts Hung Yung Chan in Uber Cup Preliminary Round – Badminton news
Indonesia’s ace shuttler Adrianti Firdasari proved her elevated standard as she toppled Hong Kong’s Hung Yung Chan in the team-event clash at Uber Cup Preliminary Round in Macau, on Sunday, February 19.
Indonesia won this contest in the playoff for fifth position against Hong Kong with a convincing margin of 4-1. Firdasari, who is currently World Number 35 in the Women’s Singles world positions, showed a strong character against Hung Yung and won the opening fight of the match in straight games.
The Indonesian took just 33 minutes of the court time and stamped her supremacy over her Hong Kong opponent, who failed to live up to the expectations.
In the first game, Firdasari played dominating game in the opening rallies and remained in complete control. She dictated the pace and kept her opponent under pressure in the opening half.
On the other hand, Hung Yung could not play positive and aggressive game in the first half and remained trailing behind her Indonesian rival who reached at 11-7 until the break
After the interval, Hung Yung played to her maximum potential and scored six points in a row to reach at 13-11. However, she could not continue her elevated run as her challenger took over the control and started to dominate the game.
Firdasari showed her elite skills and remained dominant at the concluding phase of the first game and ended it with a decent score of 21-17.
In the second game, it was the Hong Kong lady who took initiative by playing attacking game and managed to take a reasonable lead of 9-6.
However, Firdasari accelerated her speed and played aggressive badminton which helped her to level the score at 9-9. Until the break, she was slightly ahead of her Hong Kong rival at 11-10.
After the break, the Indonesian played fast game and did not show mercy to her opponent, who committed a few unforced errors. Firdasari remained positive and bagged the second game with a striking 21-15 score on the board.
The Indonesian ended this straight-set match in 33 minutes with a convincing margin of 21-17 and 21-15.
