Adrie Visser extends with HTC-Highroad
Adrie Visser has signed a one-year contract extension with the HTC-Highroad women’s team, ensuring that the already-talented team will continue to be among the most successful in 2011.
“This past year, my first with the team, went very well, with my stage win in the Tour of Thüringen, a spell in yellow in the Tour de L'Aude and second in the Swedish round of the World Cup,” said Visser.
The 27-year-old will go into her second season with the American-based team after a strong list of wins from her first year. A track and one-day specialist, she proved herself an aggressive force with a top-five finish at the Tour of Flanders, one of the
two most important one-day road races in the world.
“I had a lot more opportunities than in previous years, and I took them. So that alone is a very good reason for me to stay with HTC-Highroad. I don't have any specific aims for 2011. All I want to do is build on what I achieved in 2010, which was better
than 2009.”
Visser will be joined by new riders including German national champion Charlotte Becker and sprinter Ina-Yoko Teutenberg, who took the biggest number of victories in 2010. Americans Amber Neben and Amanda Miller will also be new to the team, while Judith
Arndt, Evelyn Stevens and Emilia Fahlin are among those continuing from last year.
“In her first year here, Adrie has already become a backbone of the team and a great support rider,” said team sports director Ronny Lauke.
“And at the same time she's really made progress in her specialist area, the Classics. She's a talented sprinter, too. She can read races well and is an ideal teammate. We're delighted she'll still be with us in 2011.”
