Adult Swim teams up with Valve – Video Games Update
Valve has announced that it will be collaboration with the popular Cable TV channel Adult Swim to bring a Robot Chicken themed hat to Team Fortress 2.
Adult Swim is a cartoon channel which shares space with Cartoon Network and targets a mature audience in the United States. Adult Swim is famous for hit shows like Space Ghost: Coast to Coast, Aqua Teen Hunger Force, Robot Chicken, Harvey Birdman: Attorney
at Law and many others.
Team Fortress 2 is Valve’s free to play class based team First person shooter available on Valve’s Digital Distribution client Steam. The game used to retail for $20 but went free to play on June 23, 2011. The game includes a store where players can buy
unique weapons and character customisation items like hats for their in-game characters with real money.
Though many fans are against the micro transactions, as they believe that most of the items and weapons available in the store break away from the game’s central theme to make the game-play unbalanced. Many more members of the Team Fortress 2 community love
the store and feel that it keeps the game fresh and the role playing game elements extend the game’s life and replay value.
Collectable Hats and other items are becoming increasingly popular on Steam, so much that almost every new game offers some exclusive Team Fortress 2 items if you pre-purchase it and some hardcore Team Fortress 2 fans are known to buy full games just to
get the exclusive items.
Adult swim has announced that the fans who sign up for the Adult Swim Mailing list before July 4 will get an exclusive Robot Chicken themed hat for free, which is available for all the nine class types available in the game. All those fans who might be interested
should hurry over to adultswim.com and sign up for the mailing list.
“To learn how their video game peanut butter will be getting in our network’s chocolate, come back next week,” said Adult Swim on their website.
Valve and Adult Swim have only announced one hat so far but fans can be sure that there are more Adult Swim themed goodies on the way. If we’re really lucky there just might be a full game based on one of Adult Swim's show developed by Valve.
