how big on average do (male) burmese pythons get?

You're gonna be looking at about 10-12 feet for a male.  Females get to be slightly longer as in most reptiles.  You shouldn't only consider the length of this snake, but also it's weight.  Could you really handle a snake this size?  I could hold a bit of rope that is 10 foot long but I couldn't hold a Burmese by myself.  This snake would also need a large enclosure.  You would also need to have at least one other person with you whenever you handled it.  It would be best to have at least two people, but one is better than no help if the snake decided to constrict around your neck.
