Adult party themes/ideas?

We have a large group of friends, we're all around 25 and some of our friends have had some great "themed" parties - a cocktail party, 80s party, etc. I'd like to plan one with a good theme, anyone have ideas?

maybe something with a theme of a type of music you guys enjoy. like rock, hip hop, etc

I just have to share that after a friend of mine had her 80's themed party, a good friend of hers went and had one - but her 80's part was "dress like you're in your eighties" and they all came with walking stick and walking frames and old lady dresses and old man pants and curlers in their hair (and flour to get the grey look). I wasn't there but the pictures are hilarious!

I had a "Hot Latin Nights" theme for my 30th and it was great - lots of margaritas and latin foods and music. There's always just 'glam', where everyone has to really dress up, or dress like a celebrity that people say that they look like, bad taste - where you dress as badly as you can; wig parties, where everyone has to wear a wig (we had an afro party once and it was great. We all went out clubbing with our afro wigs together.), masquerade, drag (where the girls dress as boys and the boys dress as girls), pimps and prostitutes (nuff said), las vegas showtime, uniforms, glitter.

casino night is always fun, but make everybody dress up  in 40's glamour, ie guys in pin striped suits, girls in dresses with pin curls, d**k Tracy style.  Then you can set up different card stations to play blackjack, poker, craps, or just a***e!

The other thing that is super fun is to host a Murder Mystery Party. You can pick up kits that have different themes and everybody gets a character mailed to them in their invite that tells them how to dress and how to act and all that. Then everybody shows up and acts out the mystery until the murderer is revealed. This is totally interactive and everybody always has a great time. Its funny to see how into character your friends end up getting.  There is a link below with some of the kits target carries.

My parents used to host an "Olympic" Party every year, where couples had to compete for cheesy prizes. Some of the games were one partner being blindfolded and having to walk down the line of all the men and feel their bottoms and try to identify their man. I think they also did a water balloon toss, a shot contest, and various other games. They always went to Target and bought cheesy, cheap prizes for the overall winner and they made tshirts in different colors so everybody could have their own team color.

And you can never beat a good old Yankee Swap, where people bring gently used items that they will never use again. Maybe its serving dish that you would never use, or a potted plant that doesnt fit in or something. Or everybody can go and buy something under 30 bucks and bring it.

do a masked ball thing. dress up, but wear halloween masks. or do a murder mystery dinner party (you could make something up or buy a kit http://www.amazon.com/Murder-Mystery-Par... )

We once had a "Frank 'n Stein" Party for Halloween or in the fall for Octoberfest!  It was a big hit...basically hot dogs and beer and all the other stuff that goes with them. Costumes, optional.

A Decade party .... pick any decade and dress, decorate like that (20's, 50's, 60's are good ones) ......

A Murder Mystery party - you can buy boxed sets that have ideas for food, invitations ... and have the outline for the murder mystery, and descriptions of the characters to give to your guests to portray them  (extra people can still dress for the theme - no one will know who's an "official" member of the "cast")

Costume Party

"Come-As-You-Are" Party - in which the guest is supposed to comed dressed as they are at the moment they opened the invitation.  It makes for some great conversation - robes, curlers, gardening clothes, etc.  (If they are in the bath, then require a cover-up of some sort), etc.

coctail parties nothing but different coctails and finger foods to serve. or put a different twist on it like only vodka drinks etc.

margarita party with margarita and latin food theme and a pinata of course with adult themed things inside.
