i'm 18 and i'm sick and tired of being a picky eater.. i of course eat 3 times a day but the things i eat limited. some times i'll get stuck on this one food and eat it for lunch and dinner continuously until i get sick of it them move on to another thing.. but the thing is.. it's getting harder and harder to find my next "favorite food" to get stuck on.

i also think my eating habits are the reason for me being too skinny. i want to change but i don't know how.

i try new foods all of the time and even am willing to try the same thing that i didn't like twice... if i make myself eat something i don't like i usually get sick or lose my appetite in the middle of eating it.

i think this is a form of OCD i also am a nail biter which i know for a fact is OCD.. how can i change?

  1. i do that too!!  for the last month or so, all that i have had to eat this chicken ceasar wrap from schlotzky's! i love it.

if you are willing to try new things though, go all out.  try something new when you want.  the worst that happens is that you find a whole bunch of food that you dont like.

my fam thinks that its a form of ocd too.  i like to think that i am easy to please when it comes to food.  thats just me though.

  2. Well first of all don't ever think of it as a mental problem even if it is, you want to think of it as just a choice rather then a restriction. Mental stability is key to winning yourself over.

Find out what type of tastes you like:

Sweet tastes - Fruit, sweets, (some forms of) dairy

Spicy tastes - Spanish food (taco's enchelatta's chimmy conga's, etc.)

Bitter tastes - Chocolates (dark, light, white, nutty), vegetables

Sour tastes - Lemons, Limes, most other citrus fruit

Plain tastes - Breads, pasta's, crackers, etc.

Protein tastes - nuts, meat (fish, beef, pork, chicken, etc.)

Once you've chosen what tastes you like think of different dishes that incorporate those foods. You've got to go out to restauraunts more, get a paper menu some restauraunts have for ordering food at home and skim through it, skim through many, look up recipe's, and don't eat the same thing every night. I like seafood personally and it's good for me that there's SOOOO many different kinds of sea food - lobsters, clams, muscles, scalaps, crabs, fish, squid, etc. Switch up your meals more often and you won't start hating it.

Make sure you look up different foods often, don't think about being picky - - eat like an animal, trust me sooo many overweight people would love to be in your position, lol.

Anyways if you know any chef's, caterers, or bakers that are your friends/family ask them what they like and try it, they're bound to have the most different and bizarre recippee's.

Being picky is natural to some people and biting your nails isn't 100% OCD it can just be a bad habit, but if you think it's OCD and convince yourself its OCD you'll litterally begin to get OCD, so don't think of it as that, never call it that because it isn't, heal yourself by using persuasion.

Try any foods given too you, don't worry about taste, just eat! Good luck! =]
