where I am from when a person has s*x for the first time they "lose"

their virginity. another common thing to say is "de-flowered". it's always a negative . an ending . a loss. is there anyone out there who comes from a place where it is seen differently ? where different language is used ? where it is seen as a beginning or a right of passage ? thanks

  1. there are some places in the world where sexual activity is not the loss purity, but actually a process which develops one's reproductive capacity. In some places children will engage in intercourse with older children or adults, and while this may seem reprehensible to many other cultures, you need to use some cultural relativism. the practice is done to prepare one for reproduction in the future. also, there are other tribes where sexual promiscuity is seen merely as one of the spoils of youth, and is taken in a playful light. for more on that i'd suggest looking up some of margaret meads work.

  2. In Okinawa, it's a cultural practice for an experienced gentleman to educate a virgin maiden in the area of s*x, in order that they will become suitable marriage partners. It is considered a positive part of a young woman's sexual education.

  3. This question hit a chord with me in that I don't like those types of expressions either.  One that absolutely p......s me off is commonly used here in Australia and I guess elsewhere:   "She fell pregnant";   "I have fallen pregnant" and it is in such common useage.  I always imagine the person keeling over and smashing into the ground.

Actually I think it is all a lot of c**p re the sort of descriptions you have mentioned.  h**l it is only s*x for C.....sake!!!!  What on earth is the big deal.  I cannot answer your question but I bet there are some cultures out there that would think it strange if a girl matured and remained a virgin for a long time after maturity and yeah our society has a different way of looking at things if it is a man's first time.  Like something to be proud of.  I think experience in this area should be encouraged as long as precautions are taken whether male or female as not all people match up to suit eachother for the long term.
