Please help, my daughter is devastated, I am on her yahoo. So she was at the middle school for 2 years for an advanced program. (grades 4-5) Well now she is going into 6th and I sent out an Inter-District form asking for her to go to willoughby middle. (Willoughby Middle is not our home school, and their 6th grade class is full) All summer I've been in touch with them. Well I just got a call today saying the new principle said "No". The lady said there were 13 letters sent out declining the students going to Willoughby Middle. Well my daughter was in a very little class, and theres noway 13 students asked to stay. Is there anything else I can do? Please help

  1. Honestly, if there's no room and 13 decline letters have been sent out, probably not.  They can only accommodate a certain number of students and they have to give preference to students that live in that district.

If your home district is not acceptable to you, you have the options of either private school or home school; both are legal in all 50 states and will give you more freedom over the coursework - private because you get to choose the school, and home school because you choose the curriculum and schedule.

  2. I think I would go to the principal who said "no" and talk with them directly face to face.  But, go prepared think ahead, maybe even write down how you want the conversation to go.  Have well thought out arguments before you begin.

However, be prepared that they may still say, no.  They may not be able to do this. Their hand's truly could be tide in the matter.

  3. To be honest instead of worrying about which school she goes to I would be more concerned that she uses Yahoo Q&A. Take a look at the Q's she is asking, this does not sound like a happy girl. Sit her down and have a good chat, that's my advice.
