Hey, I ride a KX125 1995 model, but it's in perfect condition and goes really well and has been looked after superbly so generally it's a good all round bike with no faults at all!

However, loads of people race 250Fs in with my 125 class now...they are easier to ride, but what main advantages do they have over the 125s?

Are they any smoother when riding on the rough? Do I just need to adjust my suspension setup a little more, or simply look for the smooth lines between races! Cus at the moment it's not gonig too well when it's that rough! ta

  1. The 250f is easy to ride..It has a tractor like pull off the line and out of corners...A really good rider on a 125 2-stroke can beat these 4-strokes..It takes a good rider..The AMA has changed there rules that 125 2-strokes have to run in there own class..No 4-strokes...So if you race at any AMA events you have nothing to worry about. You have to ride a 125 I mean you have to work the bike keeping the RPMs up and the bike in the power band....The 250f is way easier to ride once you get use to it...It is a lot more bike to throw around...Its a little more weight...You will be sore the first few times..You will have to adjust to ride it..

  2. the low end power is alot better on a 250f with alot more torque. your bike is a lucky bike to be 13 years old and still be running that well in races. but personally, i think that a 250f would be the way to go if you are having suspension problems because the newer bikes ride so smooth. your line choices may also be a factor, but that just takes time to learn. but there is not much you can do to the suspension to just make it absorb the little bumps. but if you are happy with the way it runs and just want to try and fix your lines, then that would be a could choice. much cheaper, keep the 2 strokes goin for a little bit longer, because they are great bikes. but the 4 strokes are just dominating. they aren't always necessarily better than one another in ALL areas, but some they are. but the other areas they are just different. like for the low end torque the 2 strokes lack, they make up for in their weight. either way, i think you will be pretty good either way, but i was super happy when i got my 250f and i still love it after 2 years.

  3. The suspension and handling will not be all that different, obviously a 2008 motocross bike will have better suspension than a 1995 bike, but being a 4 stroke has nothing to do with it. Basically the 250F has more power and more torque. They hook up better on hard pack, they pull better through loamy stuff, you have to shift gears less often and those big jumps right out of a corner are far easier because you don't need that 20 foot running start to get up to speed like you do on a 125.

  4. I don't where that guy got the idea that two strokes have to be revved up first I wouldn't listen to his answers anymore............... but a two stroke isn't meant to be riden smooth it's an off and on kinda bike which means its gonna feal rough

  5. ummm 125 are fun but i dnt know about a racing bike . i am 14 and race a 450 i have 2 CRF 450's and i love it but 250 are also really fun ..also depends on how much you weight ... but good luck and go with what you feel most comfitable with

  6. More Torque

More power quicker ( two strokes have to be reved up first)
