Question:

Advanced Fish in deep sea?

Is there a possiblity of there being an advanced species of fish etc,, in the deep sea, me and my friend got talking about it and thinking that we know more about space than our own ocean, and wondering if fish could of advanced into an intelligent life form under the ocean, as we are finding new species of fish all the time etc... not saying we are gonna discover some race of super fish but yeah, any one got any ideas on this or answers? lol

  1. Fish do exhibit various forms of intelligence, but their body structure limits the ways they can use it, and therefore discourages its evolutionary development.  The ability to manipulate your environment with things like hands is very important, as is the ability to communicate.  We are discovering new deep sea lifeforms all the time.  The closest to our standards of intelligence are mammals (whales, dolphins).


  2. in an average year there are about sixty new species discovered by depth exploration, many just as ugly as sin, are found each and every trip, but none have yet reached monster size as the low levels of oxygen are prohibitive of large growth, at any great depth, sorry to disappoint, but the answer is both yes and no...but also, low oxygen prohibits advanced intellect as well....so "uggos" yes, ( lets face it at the low lights at these levels of ocean, who needs eyes anyway ?),  "geek" types of fish races, no...
