Advantage of underage gymnastic competitors?

What would a country (any country) gain by having underage girls on their gymnastic team?

Basically, puberty. As you get older, your ligaments start to change making you less flexible and making it much more difficult to preform gymnastics. Underage gymnasts whose bodies haven't developed yet are much more flexible and can preform the rountines with more ease. The hormones of a woman who has gone completely through puberty change her body mass, hips and b***s get in the way. You need more muscle mass to overcome these things. Then there is the clear size advantage.

id like to pose this question if i may.what 16 year old doesnt have all her adult teeth?there way to young and people complain that were complaining.i wish it was there shoes in this spot of underage athletes and wed be calling them sore loseres also.read on the intenet every sight says there young but people have some blinders on.they just hate america is why people outside america dont understand

There are pros and cons.

You can say that they are more flexible but they are also much more inexperienced than the others.

They are much better because they are more flexible. Once a female gymnast enters puberty, most of her chases of doing really well in the sport are gone. Most of the gymnasts you see on the Olympics don't have their periods because they work out so much.

I did gymnastics for 8 years and used to be really good. i hit my prime when i was 12 or 13. If you think about the training, a young child could be trained from a very young age and be just as experienced as someone that started later. China, for example, starts training their gymnasts at 2 years of age. They can have a 12 year old with 10 years of experience that is small (good for bars) and very flexible and strong from training.

They set up the rule for an age minimum to protect the children and prevent an unfair advantage, which having young children definitely is!

When the girls are younger they are more flexible. It makes them do the stunts easier. They are also shorter. Also people believe that when you are younger you are less afraid of doing the stunts and hurting your career. It takes less stress of them.

> I know this has nothing to do with your question, but if I was an official seeing as how the opening ceremonies went, I would have the caught the gymnasts before they starting competing and honestly made Chine send it new of age Gymnasts.
