Advantages and disadvantages of basic six flight instrument?

Knowing the basics with steam gauges is a good habit because most aircraft are still equipped with them. Of course, there are a lot of newer airplanes that are transitioning to Glass cockpits. The advantages of knowing steam gauges are that most aircraft are still equipped with them. The disadvantage would be the scan compared to glass, because of course the glass puts everything directly in the pilot's face.

AAAMHT, eh?

I can only think of a few disadvantages. HI is one, what with the need to adjust it once in a while. With the advent of slaved HSI, that problem is more or less done away with. The other is the VSI, and only because of the small delay in response, but that's physics, not a lot can be done there.

Advantages include knowing where you're flying, how fast, how high, etc.

The question was too broad - if you were wondering of advantages/disadvantages of analog AAAMHT v. glass cockpit AAAMHT, then there would be room to argue :)
