It is a serious problem, our industry progress leads to destroying our ozone layer. Does this have any advantages by your opinion. Name all advantages and disadvantages you think are present about global warming of Earth

  1. the only advantage i can think of is for the planet ultimately, if it manages to get rid of the infection (us) by running a temperature for a few hundred thousand years.

eventually the plant/animal balance will be restored one way or another.

ozone hole; it hasn't closed up, it just hasn't got any worse! current estimates are it will take another 50 odd years to repair.

don't forget, there is thinning over the north pole too, so those of us at higher latitudes should watch out for harsh sunshine in spring with more u.v. than you expect; so wear a hat when you are out digging the garden!

  2. If you consider millions of people in Africa and probably elsewhere starving to death due to famine and drought even more than they already are not outweighing the perfect canadian wine producing climate, you have some messed up priorities.

  3. "our industry progress leads to destroying our ozone layer"

That is pure speculation.  After observing the ozone layer for a very short period of time we saw a hole develop.  We don't really know if this was a common natural event or not but we assumed it was caused by cfc's.  We regulated the cfc's and sure enough the hole closed back up.  The trouble is, is that the level of cfc's actually increased all this time so there is really no cause/effect relationship that has been detected outside of a lab.

  4. there are no advantages whatsoever when it comes to Global Warming. they are all disadvantages, no matter what people say!

  5. There aren't many advantages to global warming other than the fact that it will likely cause us to adapt and change are methods of doing things (as we're already seeing) forcing us to live more in tune with our planet or be destroyed. There is also the fact that global warming is causing awareness for the need of environmentally friendly products which brings in new business and therefore new jobs.  There are far too many disadvantages to list on here but you can count the dessimation of wildlife species, extreme flooding, agricultural difficulties, more severe storms and human casualties related to those, starvation, loss of jobs, and more frequent and severe natural disasters as some major downsides to global climate change.

  6. Statements seen here that global warming is good are extremely misleading.  Here is why.

"I don't know if there is a meaningful way to define an "optimum" average temperature for planet earth. Surely it is better now for all of us than it was 20,000 years ago when so much land was trapped beneath ice sheets. Perhaps any point between the recent climate and the extreme one we may be heading for, with tropical forests inside the arctic circle, is as good as any other. Maybe it's even better with no ice caps anywhere."

"It doesn't matter. The critical issue is not what the temperature is, or may be, or will be. The critical issue is how fast it is moving."

"Rapid change is the real danger. Human habits and infrastructure are suited to particular weather patterns and sea levels, as are ecosystems and animal behaviors. The rate at which global temperature is rising today is likely unique in the history of our species."

"This kind of sudden change is rare even in geological history, though perhaps not unprecedented. So the planet may have been through similar things before -- that sounds reassuring, right? "

"Not so much. Once you look at the impact similar changes had on biodiversity at the time, the existence of historical precedent becomes anything but reassuring. Rapid climate change is the prime suspect in most mass extinction events, including the Great Dying some 250 million years ago, in which 90% of all life went extinct."

"What we know about ecosystems, and what geologic history demonstrates, is that dramatic climate changes -- up or down or sideways -- are a tremendous shock to the biosphere and cause mass extinction events. That, all in all, is not likely to be a good thing."

  7. The advantages of global warming is that it gives the world ( or some who care ) the incentive or the awareness to take action to reduce global warming, like gas emission  and fuel consumption etc and it allows people to take more care in their energy use, where they never knew about it before

the disadvantage is that it might not be true and or some people dont even care, so it makes no difference to peoples lives....trying to be green adds more cost to businesses.. so why should they change:P

after all, there are more important things going on in peoples lives. why should they care?

  8. Well, Global Warming has been studied pretty closely for more than a hundred years now.  Its pretty clear at this point that it involves trends that left unchecked will lead to the end of the human race, if not life on earth.  I suppose if you want to look for advantages you'd have to say some areas that have been uninhabitable will temporarily be habitable.  There will also be areas that have been habitable becoming uninhabitable.  Then you'll have a redefined coastline with rising sea levels.  There'll be winners and loser with that too.  Some desert land will become prime real estate.  At the same time some prime real estate will become sea bottom.  On that issue we don't have to guess because its happened before.

  9. L. Ron Hubbard once said, "If you want to be rich, invent your own religion."  That is exactly what Al Gore did and it is making him a very rich man.
