If it's for a job - The money is excellent at the moment especially for Licenced Aircraft Engineers. As there has been very few apprenticeships available recently (everyone wants to go to Uni!) there's a shortage.

There are a number of reason: It makes travelling time shorter and cheaper, creates good jobs and revenue, its good for the government who claim the tax on it  lol. It enables one to see the whole world like no other transportation medium can ever do. Although Mr Richard Branson would think otherwise with his space travel- almost.
