Advantages of each type of helicopter landing gear?

Question

I heard there are many types of helicopter landing gear, but most of the time I only see skid type. All I can find right now are skid, nose and tail wheeled tricycle (retractable and unretractable). What are other types out there?

I'm doing the research about the advantages and disadvantages of each type? If anyone knows any resources of the information, please post it. save my life!!! because I couldn't find any. thank you so much

Skids are cheaper to produce. Wheels offer the benefit of easier ground handling.

wheels provide beautiful feature called airplane takeoff and landing. that can not be performed well by any skid types, unless provided with grass airstrip.

i wanted to mention a couple of things in relation to your question. firstly break the 'skids' component into sections.

there are fixed skids that are fixed to the helo frame. the disadvantage here is the rough landing if the pilot does not land smoothly

some skids have shock absorbers called 'oleos' that cusion a rougher landing. these also help disperse any ground resonance which is an andantage you can talk about.

ground resonance is a problem that can occur when a helo is landed too roughly. the rotor blades are knocked off balance from the landing and as they continue to spin, any small asymetrical imballance becomes amplified. so much so that the helo can actually shake itself apart (there are video of this on youtube). the problem can easily be fixed when the shake is noticed, by picking the helo back up. as soon as contact is broken with the ground the danger is gone.

also there are skids that allow the helo to land on water (obvious advantage)

finally, and in relation to a previous answer, running landings and take-offs can be performed on skids on a runway. metal 'shoes' are attached that protect the skids which can be changed when needed.
