Three of my friends and I are going on a trip to italy/Greece; possibly a cruise. However, the only excursions are site seeing. We don't want to look at things the whole time we want to have FUN. Does anyone know how to make Italy exciting, adventurous?

  1. It sounds like you just want to go to Italy to have s*x  oops I meant have fun.  If that's the case just go clubbing and dress s**y.  You'll have plenty of guys after you...not because you are gorgeous but because they will probably think you are easy American girls.  If this is not the case take JP's advice.

i've been to italia one time.

lol go to the beach south of rome

  3. My wife and I visited Italy a couple of yrs ago.  I liked the hill towns of Tuscany, visiting vinyards and sampling the cuisine.  She loved the bigger cities and seeing the vatican museum of Rome.  We both loved the italian Riviera and the Cinque Terre.  Depending on what is exciting and adventurous to you, it is all there.

We met a couple who were spending a month in Italy.  They had no reservations and were using the Agriturismo.  You can look into this system of accommodations and simply go town to town until you find a place you want to stay for a while.  You can do a yahoo search and see how it works.  I am such a planner that going to another country without a reservation would be a major adventure for me!  Renting a car and driving in Rome is an adventure not for the faint hearted.  They are very agressive, very outspoken and very impatient drivers.   Driving around Tuscany was cool though!  If you are only going to be in Rome for a day or two and want to get out of some of the tourist lines, hire a personal tour guide.  Our travel agent arranged one for us.  In addition to knowing the city top to bottom,  they have special passes to get you out of huge lines at the vatican museum and other places.  They can even drive certain places that the public cannot. The people are very helpful and friendly... if you need more adventure just ask a local!

We found Rick Steves guide to Italy more of an insiders guide to the culture than Fodors.  Fodors in my opinion would steer you to the more touristy activities but Rick Steves tells you what the locals do in a certain area.

Just get there and you can make your trip whatever you want!
