Advertisement question?

alright well i need to find out how much it costs to place an ad in a magizine or newspaper.. hopefully both. i am trying to do this alltoday online using the newyork times newspaper and newsweek magizine. i have been to both sites but cannot find prices to advertise. i can only find spefications. can you help me?

You might need more time.  Unless you know someone in media who has a current media kit for NY Times and Newsweek.....

I suggest you call them directly and speak to a salesperson.  Tell them your situation and maybe they will be able to give you some numbers over the phone.  Call in the morning if it's too late tonight.  Good luck!

The rates are posted online for every publication I've looked at.  For the NY Times, there is a link at the bottom of their home page for "advertise with us".  From there you choose your category and gets lots of info.  I clicked on consumer products and got a whole document.  The first page was spec with the rates on following pages.  There are lots of options so it might be confusing.  They don't clearly mark which are total costs and which are cost per column inch but you can tell by the magnitude of the cost.  But its there if you look.

I think to advertise something it would be 40 $ in the Newyorktimes. The best way to advertise something would to sell it on Ebay or put ads on mail boxes,posts,at parks,around the neighbour hood.

Have you tried video advertising like youtube?

The good thing here is you could  advertise effectively at no cost in you.

Imisidro and Baccheus are definitely correct on that one. Always check out a company's media kit. Every pub should have an "advertise with us" section.

you should try to post your add on yahoo or google as its a personal experience that these adds increase your sales

New York Times has a website for posting and buying classified ads in their paper. Here is NYTimes media kit with the advertising rates

Newsweek has a special website for advertising and you can find their media kit and ad rates at http://www.newsweekmediakit.com/

Unfortunately, though, you have to contact the advertising director for the rates as they do not typically put their rate cards on their websites
