Advertising/Promotional help?

How can I buld up my client base, I am a third year hairdresser and our boss has asked us to help create more business. Any ideas would be helpful to add to flyers or newspaper advertising.

  2. Capricor,  Join a BNI group in your area.

    www.bni.com and look for a chapter in your area.

    I have seen plenty of hair dressers in BNI that grow by 80% per year.

    another way is to seek out your local Chamber and go to their mixers.  They usualy hold one or two a month and are great visibility to those that have the money to spend.  

    Business cards are essential even to you.  You can get them very cheap at www.vistaprint.com

    Usually the people at these events love freebies so if you have some samples you can pass out with your card, you;ll snag them for sure.  Coupons also work as freebies.  Maybe offer a free wash with first visit to your chair.

    And then tell your boss to get a web site with each dressers profile and contact info.  Maybe that will point them in the right direction online.  

    Todays yellow pages is on the net.  Especially for an inovative shop like yours.

Newspaper ads work well enough, but they are expensive.  I used to own a clothing store, and the best money spent for me was direct mail.  First off, I mailed all my regular customers,  Then I had a "tell a friend" cocktail party where both my costumers and their friends could register for prizes etc. (and I get their friends address too for future mailings.)

    If there are lifestyle magazines in your town, offer to give them the "scoop" on the latest trends in hair design, offer to create wild hair designs for a photo shoot.  

    something that I think is helpful-- figure out what you are really selling:  it's not a hair cut, it's fashion, it's glamor, it's s*x.  So sell those things.

  5. best way is with photos of ur best work ( on best looking clients ) maybe before and after shots. u wil need consent maybe offer free haircits to ur "models that will also raise loyalty as will raffels sales give aways of shampoo or maybe a punch card every 7th cut free. Also look into the welcome wagon which sends adds to new residents who will need hair cuts
