In what ways do ad campaigns try to outsmart your critical thinking abilities? Consider a recent advertisement you encountered. What was your reaction to this thought process? Share how you did or did not think critically? What was the outcome?

  1. Hi,

    There are many ways to market a small business on the web.  You can buy banner ads, text links, or use PPC.  However, the best way is to get listed in a bunch of portals. Portals and directories are like phone books, and they often provide a lot of traffic because they tend to rank high on Google.

    This portal is giving away a free business card holder for lising your business (I got mine a few days ago in the mail).  If you want to know about some other portals, just let me know.

  2. Make it a policy that to use a site like this one you accept the right of the site to advertise and then receive advertisements in boxed portions off to the side of the screen where it will not inconvenience a person.

  3. hum...  Most of the time an Advertising message objective is not to get you to think critically.  Many times it is an emmotional appeal.  In fact, thinking critically might lead you to the conclusion that you should not buy the product advertised.  

    Advertising is a paid communication tailored to reach specific segments of the population.  Rarely will advertisers want you to think critically.
