Advertising/promotion managers?

im thinking about taking a career as an advertising manager but i have a couple of questions.

1. what 2 things should i major in? business and advertising?

2. how much is the average pay?

3. how do i get to the 'manager' position? is it really the manager of other people or is it just called that?

4. how could i get a job at a major company such as SONY, Disney, or a famous ad agency? (names of them please)

5. i heard there are lots of perks such as free concerts, cruises etc that you get from clients. tru or flase?

6. final question: are the taxes really as bad as they say?

you dont have to answer all the questions just as many as you can please.

    2.  Check out salary.com

    3.  Through experience/job promotion.  It can be, but doesn't have to be.

    4.  Start small and work your way up to the big dogs.

  2. You may find it helpful to read some advertising industry magazines such as ADWEEK to learn more about the approach of advertising. If you read articles on these types of sites you will (hopefully) start to think like an advertising manager, and see if that point of view is right for you. If you can effectively create messaging, copy, headlines, etc. for advertisements this may be the right career for you. Some of these sites also reference job listing which may give you assistance in figuring out what to major in.
