Question:

Adverts for cheap flights?

Very frequently I see adverts for cheap flights from as little as £10 per person. Do you think that is the real price? What other things do I need to consider when booking such a flight? What about airport tax, hotel charges etc (if going on holiday). Are there any relevant websites for these?

  1. Use your common sense and always read the advert carefully.

Generally it will require you to book between certain days, sometimes taxes are included, sometimes they arent.

You need accomodation so check on www.hotel.com for cheap hotels.

    Also spending money is needed.

  2. Often the flight itself is the cheap part, but airlines add airport taxes and baggage fees. A lot of price comparison sites exist for holidays, try expedia.com or travelsupermarket.com

  3. I travel quite often, and I don't think that those extremely cheap flights are legit!  Here are some good sites to check...

    1.  www.kayak.com - it searches many different airlines at once.  I've used this many times. I believe they include taxes in their price.

    2.  www.hotwire.com - this site sometimes sells you cheaper flights, hotels, and cars.  On certain flights and on hotels, you'll put in your dates, then they will give you a list of prices.  If you are flexible in the times of your flight, or an area of your hotel, then they will sell it to you at a cheaper rate.  I can't remember why this is, but it is legit also.  I've used it for hotels many times and I've gotten 4-5 star hotels for 1-3 star prices.  The only draw back is you won't know the name of the hotel until after you pay for it.  Same goes for the airlines on some flights.

    3.  www.hotels.com - regular priced hotels, but a great site.  If a hotel happens to overbook, they will upgrade you to a different hotel at their expense.

    4.  Don't forget to sign up for frequent flyer miles!!  After traveling for a year thinking that it would be a complicated process, I kicked myself after finding that all I needed to do in most cases was just sign up on the airlines website!!  Then you can start earning free miles if you are planning on traveling in the future.  I do this for each airline I fly.

    Good luck!
