Question:

Advice On New Zealand Travels?

by  |  earlier

0 LIKES UnLike

I was supposed to go to New Zealand last November but two days before going I broke a bone in my foot and could not fly.

I am still thinking about this but I want to go again.

However I would like to volunteer at sometime along my travels but would like advice on any opportunities regarding this?

Please note I have been in touch with VSO who in all fairness were very rude when I enquired. The reason-I have no professional qualifications. I quote ‘We want doctors nurses solicitors. Professional people who can help’ was the reply I got.

I replied you don’t know-one from joe public? Well no not really!

Anyhow any other organisations who don’t want anyone to be over qualified.

Many thanks

  1. hi - you could try http://www.volcan.org.nz it's the volunteer organization for the Canterbury (Christchurch) district

you could also try trade aid

    http://www.tradeaid.org.nz/Get%20Involve...

if you contact the volunteer canterbury people they may be able to advise you of who else to contact for short term stints if you prefer to try in another city

(maybe also try contacting the salvation army and city mission people they both do a lot of work with homeless people in the cities)

all the best - there will be someone out there to help if you really want to do it :)

or if you are wanting to do more along the lines of environmental stuff you could try greenpeace or even give the department of conservation a try!!

  2. You might like to check with these organisations

This one is a conservation one - it does look like you pay -

(Scroll down to New ZEaland - there are 3 options. The bottom one looks useful.
