Advice PLEASE am really worried!?

Question

Last night I was extremely drunk (no excuse i know) and i had unprotected s*x with a man i'd just met. It happened for roughly ten seconds before I came to my senses and stopped it. I am obviously making an appointment to get checked for STIs but I cannot check for HIV/AIDS for 3 months as apparently this is the window time where it will not show up. I know you never know until you get tested but I am really worried as i'm only young and have never done something stupid like this before. could anyone offer some advice like how likely HIV is to catch if intercourse lasted such a short interval..HIV is the one I am most scared about. I've spent the whole day in a state of panic over this ! Many thanks for any helpful words!

ok just from me not being a nurse or anything. i don't think you could just get AIDS like from a 2 second thing. well i guess you could but not that likely. i would be scared of getting a STD though. Not sure how long you have to wait for an AIds test though. Seems like you could do it right away seeing it is blood work that they do. maybe you need to wait that long to see if the cells change? i would call the health dept or your doc office  anyways. please be careful next time though and try to relax hon .. hugs to you !

If you feel sick in about 2 weeks time, it might be a sign of aids.

My only advice is to get tested for STIs as soon as possible.

And untill you get results, you should just relax, because panicking won't get you anywhere.

Do some googling if you want more reassurance.

HIV is not as common as some other stds but it is not completely unlikely... try finding this man. It was at a bar? Ask the bartender if he was a regular.

As of right now, if you catch HIV early enough, you can live a completely normal (lots of pills) life. I guess if you wanted to have children you could have a surroget mother, and protected s*x with partner...

There is always a risk of getting HIV or other sexually transmited diseases. You are doing the right thing getting this checked out (check for all STIs, including hepititus by the way). The best advice I can give you is don't worry. It's pretty unlikely that you have got something like HIV. There are loads of factors - did the man climax? What country do you live? What are the rates of infection/incidence there? And other factors relating to the person you had s*x with like how many partners he's had, if he injects drugs, etc. etc. I'm assuming that you live in the US or Europe or somewhere like that, and statistically based on what you've said i'd recon the chances of you having caught HIV are low. All the same, definitely get checked out and definitely don't have unprotected s*x again. And don't worry. You'll be ok.

I would ask God to forgive you and protect you from this mistake. Trust Him...He can do the impossible. I always tell my boys that nothing good comes from getting drunk.I hope you will refrain in the future. You are a special girl and can have a wonderful life if you make good choices and care about yourself.
