Can anyone suggest a route to take.

I am driving from the UK to Calais with the car and canoe!! I have two weeks to spend in Spain so I wanted to work my way down to Spain but onlyhaving two weeks, I am not sure if I can get as far as Andalucia.

Firstly are there some good places to go open canoeing in Spain.

Secondly can someone suggest places of interest ot visist in Northern Spain, North-West and North-East Spain and maybe Central Spain?

Thank you

  1. yes, I agree, stick to the north of Spain.  You can drive through France in a day, and through Spain in a second day, but it's exhausting!  I've done it.  Going to the northwest of Spain (i.e. Galicia) takes about as long as driving to the south of Spain.  I would stick to the pyrenees;  I haven't canoed there but I've been camping and would definitely recommend it.

  2. If you use the Auto Routes you can drive from Calais to southern Spain in less than 24 hours, you will be imprest with the amount of canoeing places that you pass in France and Spain, just make sure of the gates on the Paris ring road, and try not to be on it in the rush hour. Have a great holiday.

  3. Hmmm i cant be much help to you, all i can tell you is when me and my brother drove from the UK to Barcelona it took us about 15 hours.

I would definately recommend you going to Barcelona !!

  4. Couple of routes down , motorway may be better but all toll road  try -Arras ,- Millau onto Spain for A roads  you are trying to do too much in two   weeks ( north west , north east  central spain )  be specific do you want a route to the north west of spain north east ?

if you don't know a river in spain for canoeing try the Ardeche in france .

The above website will give you a detailed route. I use it often.

As for driving to Andalucia, it is possible to do it in  two days but you will be pushing it, but it can be done. My neighbour took two & a half days from Calais to Málaga last week.

With just two weeks I would stick to Northern Spain. There are some beautiful places to visit in the Cantabrican mountains. I live in Andalucia and why tire yourself out driving here when there's so much to see in the North.
