  1. at night i use the Baby Einstein lullaby CD it really helps calm my son down.

  2. relaxing music, quiet classical or meditation C.D's are available everywhere and a drop of lavander oil on the pillow.

i have found these to be the best for my son.

  3. If its during the day at about the age of 5 years they probably wont want or need to have a rest during the day unless they have had a busy day.  I would imagine they are about to start school soon or are already going to school, so I would keep them awake until bed time in that case.  If its more a case of you are having trouble getting them to go to bed of a night, well, try not to get them too excited, bath, dinner, ( or dinner / bath ) reading, or telling them a nice little bedtime story and let them settle down should help.  But if they happen to be a little more assertive and like to push things to the limit, set a routine, for them and for you, and stick to it, NO MATTER WHAT, and tell them this is how you now do things and be assertive when you tell them,  but dont bully them.  You have to stick to what ever it is that you commit to with them.  Yep, you may have to compromise and they may too.  Good luck.

  4. I would give my son a warm bath and then read him a story they have these lights that you turn on and they make stars and moons on the ceiling my son would stare at it, he loved it. I got it at Toy r us I cant remember the name of it. He is 9 now so I just say go to bed. Good luck.

  5. bath the children using a bubblebath/wash containing lavender ( johnsons do a good range) then snuggle up with a good book and read to them using a soft voice. Then put the children to bed and try and use soft lighting , lamps etc as a bright room will keep them awake and a dark room can be scary !!
