Advice about studying in england.?

hi.

basically, I'm a 16 year old from Belgium who is thinking about continuing studies in England (preferably close to London for personal reasons).

I have a few questions.

-Is it true that an english diploma is worth less than a belgian one?

-Is it hard to get a scholarship and how do I get one?

-What are the average costs for a course? (I'm thinking about medicine)

-Is getting in to the course hard? (e.g grades)

-Does anyone know any good uni's?

and basically, any personal experience or whatever information you have is welcome.

thanks in advance!

  1. Ok this is hilarious. I'm 17, I'm living in Belgium and I've applied through UCAS to UK Universities.

To start off with, that's a load of bollocks. People are 2839735381047236278246732 times more likely to recognise a UK diploma than a Belgian one. "Yes, I went to Oxford/Cambridge/University College London/London School of Economics."

"Wow, really? Welcome to our company!"

    Another scenario:

"Yes, I want to Universtaires St.-Luc..."

    "Come again?"

    "It's in Belgium?"

    "Where?"

Scholarships are offered based on a number of factors. If you don't have residency/if you're not in the EU group, you're going to be paying I think it's anywhere from 15000 to 35000 pounds for university.

If you are in the EU nationals group/you have UK residency, it's 5000pounds for you entire time there, tuition wise. [housing, etc. all costs more]. However, I've been shortlisted for a scholarship of 1000pounds a year based on academic excellency, and I'm in the EU nationals group applying through the European School of Brussels.

    I already mentioned average costs...

The difficulty of getting accepted differs from uni to uni. Obviously it's alot hard to get into Oxbridge than say... Sussex. They list their minimum requirements for different courses on their webpages. UCAS is awesome. [ucas.com] it has an alphabetical list of courses offered at all UK universities + what they ask.

    Good unis:

Obviously, Oxbridge are the top. They're the 2 best universities in teh world. They're also probably the 2 hardest to get into, so good luck. Imperial College London, King's College London, University College London are the next in line. I've heard many good things about Bath, London School of Economics, and Edinborough.

    Hope I helped! Good luck!
