Advice for a single woman traveling to Negril, Jamaica alone?

I will be going in the spring- late April. What are some things to do? How do I stay safe? What should I be aware of?

Well, I'm from Jamaica and I'm still living there.

Negril, Jamaica is NOT one of the "bad" places in Jamaica. Trust me.

You can stay safe though, by staying in a group with several other tourists. You should keep contact with the security system of wherever your destination is going to be; like get the number for the securities and always keep a phone with you.

Well, that's all I can think of.

I know you are going to enjoy yourself. In the day you can go to the light house, Rick's cafe, the water park or just take a walk in the town. In the night the Jungle night club is one of the hot spots.  To stay safe ask the hotel to call a cab for you to go on the road no matter who the driver they will be willing to take you all over negril. Ask before you get in the cab about the cost to go around the town don;t want any suprises at the end of the day. I go to Jamaica once a year and Negril is always where I spend most of my time.

Negril isnt a bad place. its beautiful. so you should be okay.

During the day you are fine pretty much wherever you go in Negril. The beaches are great. I hear Spring Break gets pretty crazy.  I wasn't impressed with The Jungle the few times I've been there, but I do love the outdoor dances. I guess you just keep your head about you. Go ahead and mingle, talk, have a good time, but be careful if you like to drink a lot and smoke weed. Remember what they say about woman's intuition...listen to it! I've never had any real problems while in Jamaica. You may want to befriend either a Jamaican male or female where you stay, and let them know you want to go out in the evening and ask them what's going on the days you are there. Most likely you will get an invite out and if you don't you can always see if they are up for a night out. Overall, very friendly people who will be real cool to you if you are cool to them.  Have a good time, use you head and listen to your intuition. Once you go, you will be back.....
