Question:

Advice for a woman travelling alone to Bangalore, India?

I'm a blonde western college student who will be traveling to Bangalore, India this August. I am going to be doing a volunteer service project, though I don't have a huge amount of information on it, once I join the group I won't be alone but I will be for my first night or two and my last few.

I've read a lot of sites so I've read some basic tips on western women traveling to India, but I'd like to see if anybody has any specific advice related to Bangalore or even just general advice.

Thank you!

  3. Take all precautions.

You will find really nice and friendly people in Bangalore. You will get many friends there. And the indian hospitality will be a memorable one.

Beware of some taxi drivers, local merchants who will  try to bargain more. Its better that you don't travel alone.

  4. carry your weapon. they are MEAN over there. bring your own food because their's is not so good.

  5. Always be on your guard!

There are 2 sides to India - the amazingly progressive urban side and the third world mentality side. You never know what you might get.

Enjoy the different flavors of the country and have a great time.
