Don't say "don't". I just want some tips from the homesteading scene.

  1. Be sure to wipe the seat off before you do.

  2. To homestead:  The primary dwelling of an individual, either owned or rented.

To squat:  A homeless person who takes up illegal residence on the private property of another person.

I think you are a tad bit confused.  If you really need a place to stay for a little bit - go to a friends place or a homeless shelter or a hostel for a bit, get a job, and do whatever it is you want to do with your money but pay for your own living...really it is quite a rewarding feeling to know you are taking care of yourself and not mooching off someone else's belongings.

Good luck and peace be with you!

  3. Squatting on another man's property is a good way to get laid out under it.

  4. Find an abandoned building off the beaten path...it sucks have to share your squat with crack heads/junkies/alcoholics.

Make sure, if you are in a neighborhood, that the neighbors can't see any lights you have at night.

Respect the neighborhood-don't give people a reason to look for you.

Don't invite people over to your squat....it won't stay yours for long.

Make sure you don't have anything illegal on you.  Trespass charges are bad enough, you don't need any possession charges, too.

Be careful in the summer if you live somewhere hot.  Abandoned buildings can get pretty hot and miserable (with absolutely NO air flow.)

Don't keep any money/things of value there when you leave.  It tends to disappear, even if you don't think anyone knows about it.

Find out where public showers are.  Just because you don't have a fixed address doesn't mean you should smell like it!

  5. The occupation of the property must have a semblance of regularity in order to ripen into an ownership after a period of time.

  6. get a job

  7. The Homestead Act of 1862 ended in 1976 with one exception Alaska, which ended in 1986. Don't take my word check it out for yourself.

  8. Get a job and act like a real man.

  9. Are you living in the 60's ? --- And I mean the 1860's

  10. Get used to a substandard quality of life.
