Advice for applying for a morgage UK

I am not very clued up to the world of morgages and to be honest dont know what all the differ net morgages mean!

I am a first time buyer and am needing some advice or some info on what is needing and also what I need to make provisions for eg fees etc...

  1. You need to see a mortgage specalist or an independent financial adviser.


  2. I'd recommend you see a mortgage advisor at your local bank.

    It will make a good starting point.

    Whatever you do DO NOT go near people who call themselves "financial advisers" or mortgage advisers" they are just looking to sell you insurances to make commission.

  4. Go to the Moneymadeclear section of the Financial Services Authority website.  They've got a lot of information in step-by-step guide's which are really easy to follow.

  5. Go to Taylor's Estate Agents and inside they'll be a Mortgage Advisor who will sit down with you and go through everything with you for free. We've always gone to Taylor's and have given them control of our re-mortgaging every 3 years and it's always been the cheapest with no hassle - just sign the paper and they sort everything out.
