Advice for aspiring journalists???

i'm 16 and i'd really love to be a journalist. i'd just really like to hear some advice from any journalist out there on what the profession is like, how you got into it and what should i do to get into it.

  2. I would love to get into Journalism to (I'm 14). Really, since I'm so young, all I can suggest is take some Journalism classes, they're really fun.

  3. As I have said before, make sure any course you take is NUJ accredited. Ask about and make sure you go to a uni with a good rep within the industry - these ones are harder to get into usually but it's worth it when you graduate and are taken more seriously in the job market.

    Write, Write, Write, Write, Write. - build up a portfolio for the uni to see when they interview you - means you are more likely to be accepted.

    If you can, buy a book and teach yourself Teeline shorthand (it's relatively easy) again it shows commitment (and you can write a diary in secret code)

    The profession is quite cut-throat but if you are determined enough, there is no reason you can't make it.
