Question:

Advice for getting into time trialing?

I've been doing triathlons for a couple years now and have recently developed an interest in taking up time trialing. On my short and fast training nights I ride my 15 mile loop with an average of 22.3-22.7 MPH and during olympic distance tri's (24 mile bike) I average about 21 MPH. I realize that there are different classes of riders, and I would start off at the lowest level, but am I even going to be competitive there? I'm not looking to replace triathlons with TT, but just to supplement my development as a better overall racer.

I've looked on active.com for races and I see that they have some in state (Iowa) but they don't have any links to the event or any other information about the races other than simply that there is indeed a race. Thanks!

  1. now i havent raced in years, but i used to aim to keep my speed above 24mph.  now you can't do that under all circumstances, but in a flat race you will need to be somewhere in that area to be in it.  then as you go up in class it gets faster.
