Advice for going in Rome plz?

well...i'll go in Rome for 4 days and i would like some advice for making a plan. I dont want just to mention me what to see, but i would like if you could tell me a plan with all this. for example, in the morning go there that day and so on..common guys i need your help!!

You are staying 3 full days in Rome? If would be helpful if I knew the days you would be arriving and leaving Rome.

If you can get a good guidebook on Rome: DKEyewitness, Lonely Planet, Rick Steves, etc. Choose which one your like best.

With 4 days:

Day of  Arrival- Get settled into your hotel room;  take a stroll around the area to get acquainted with the area so you can find your way back.;  Go to some of the sites near your hotel; Go window shopping, etc.

Dinner (in Rome  it usually begins at 8pm sometimes 9pm)

Take a stroll after dinner to the Trevi Fountain or Piazza Navona are fabulous in the evening.

****The first  full day:

Go to the Vatican and Sistine Chapel

If you are going in the summer the lines will be long, I would advise you to join a tour group as they get head of the line treatment. or go very very early.... The Church opens at 9am.

This will take you most of the day.

Have lunch- food in Rome can be pricey. I would advise you to either buy a sandwich off one of the vendors or bring a picnic lunch. If you are near a supermarket, buy fruit, water, cheese, prosciutto, and bread(wine or a soft drink if you prefer)--

Return to your hotel and rest... After a little rest... If you want to go window shopping go...

In the evening before or after dinner,take a stroll to some of the sites. .

*** If  your first full day is a Wednesday, do the Vatican and Sistine Chapel another day-- The Church is closed Wednesday mornings until 1pm.

When I was in Rome in May, our first  full day was on Wednesday so we saved the church and sistine chapel for the last day- using the sightseeing bus to get to and from the church.

2nd  full day: Go to see the Borghese Galley. Reservations are required. (you are only allowed 2 hours in the gallery) I would highly recommend seeing the gallery.

You can speak to someone in English by selecting 2. You just reserve your time and date... and you pay when you arrive at the gallery.

Bring a picnic lunch and enjoy it in the park.  If you want to see all of the park, rent a bike or an electric bike and tour the park on one of these. In May, we rented a electric bike(10 euros per hour)  We had a great time. You find the bike rentals in the park.

Go back to your hotel and rest...

After your rest, go to the Train Station and see about the Bus 110 sightseeing bus ; get your tickets for the next day.

You can purchase the tickets at the Bus 110 ticket booth near Termini station located between the city buses in the booth there or aboard the bus.

110 Bus is an open sightseeing bus which makes stops to the main attractions in Rome... It is a hop on/hop/off bus...

Good idea if you have children or adult who cannot walk a lot.

A bus ticket cost 16 euros. and children under 6 do not pay.(children 6-12 years Euro 7,00)

From Termini Station, departing every day, every 15 minutes. You can also hop on one of the buses at one of their stops and buy a ticket

Take a walk to the Pantheon, The Colosseum, Piazza Navona,  Spanish Steps,Trevi Fountain (near the Trevi Fountain you can get  a great ice cream),

After dinner, go to any of the places you missed earlier

***3rd full day- Take  the sightseeing bus to all the attractions and enjoy some more time at any of the ones you liked the best or missed. Lunch: Grab a bite at the one of the vendor stands or grab a pizza.  Enjoy your day...

Go back to your hotel and rest.. Organize your things for your departure..

Dinner, a stroll, etc.

****You could also do this on the first full day and go to the church and sistine chapel on your last full day.  This way you can see where all the attractions are and the distance from your hotel --walking; metro etc purposes.

Go buy your gifts and things--leave this for the last day so you will not have to carry them around . However, if you see something at the street  market buy it. Your little trinkets and things get them the last day.

the answers robertin has given you are the best.. the sistine chapel. we were there for 3 hours and did not see all of it. the vatican we were their for 4 hours. it  was imposable to see it all. i suggest you buy calenders you well have 12 or more of the best pictures. buy post cards as well. some places do not allow cameras. please wear long pants and shirts or t. shirts with short  selves. they do not allow shorts.or mine skirts.( i know my spelling is bad)
