  1. Tie lavender in bunches with thread or string, and hang upside down where air circulation is good to dry it. It can be added to dried flower arrangements. It can be added to satchets and crushed.Place the sachets in linen closets or anywhere that you would like to add the fragrance.Larger sachets placed in pillows are excellent for a good nights sleep. The oil in lavender has a calming and sedating effect.Lavender essential oil sprinkled on the inside of a pillow is especially effective. The effect is strong enough in some people that it is sniffed to stop a panic attack. There are many uses in crafts for lavender dried flat between blotting paper. It can be used fresh to decorate stationary. The heavier grades of paper and parchment work best.Harvest it in bloom, place it where you would like on the paper, place another paper on top of it and press flat, then pound with a hammer. The pigments in the flowers, stems and leaves will leave a nice impression on the paper being decorated.

  2. Victorian women use to carry them around and place them to their noses when there was an unpleasant odor present.  This could come in handy around husbands and dogs if you get my drift.

  3. Lavender is great to pick and use in your bath water...

It makes nice scented sachets for your clothes drawers (make these by drying the lavender and then bunching the flowers together in toole--netting-like material and tie all together with a ribbon)

I like to dry the  lavender, stems and all and hang around the house.
