Just give it a little thought. How does the mouse trap work? The spring is loaded by pushing back on the wire loop until it latches. When it is tripped, it snaps back with a lot of force.

What would happen if you securely attached the spoon to that wire loop and sprung the trap?

Just something to get you thinking. I'm sure you can go the rest of the way with this. Good luck.

Glue or a rubber band should work just fine.  The spoon should be attached to the clapper part of the mouse trap.  The ball goes in the spoon.  Easy, no?
