I just found out that my parents were arranging a car for me. It turns out its my aunts old car which is not a problem for me Im just happy to have a car! But then I remembered its a stick and that is a problem for me b/c I have no idea how to drive those.

Is it easy to learn stick even for a relativly inexperienced driver?

Do you think I should still go for this car?

  1. He's right. If you want the car bad enough, you shouldn't mind learning to drive a stick. My dad knows, it just takes practice.

  2. The real question is, do you have money to put a new clutch in after it blows. it is fairley easy to learn, once you have the basics of how it works. however, i have seen many young ppl get into a stick car and kill a clutch in 6 weeks. if you can afford the car and have some money left over for the clutch i say go for it. if not, i would find something else.

  3. A car is a car!! Driving stick is like anything else, you have to get the feel for it. Every car is differant but all you have to do is keep in mind that if you let the clutch out sllllooowly and apply gas liightly then it wont stall. I would recommend practicing just trying to get the car toll roll without using the gas pedal just to get the feel for where the clutch engages. Once you can get the car rolling without giving alot of gas you will have no problem. Take the car to a parking lot with no cars in the area and keep praticing until you get it. My first car was a stick and i was speed racer in no time

  4. try your best to turn it on

    1). hold brake

2). press clutch as deep as posible

3). make sure its in nutral

    4). turn it on

    5).press the clutch

    6). shift in to first

7). let go of the brake(the car will move back)

8).put your right foot on the gas

9). let go of the clutch (while your foot is 1/4 of the way in gas)

and b4 it reaches the redline shift

it not hard with practice you will get use to it

  5. If you cannot drive a manual car, ie. a stick!!! this is one with gears that you change your self, YES?, then you will only ever be able to driva an automatic. (NO STICK) Just a gear ration selector...

Lean to drive with a manual gear box changer/shifter thingy, and 3 pedals for your 2 feet, and you will always be able to drive any car.

There is no rush to learn so take your time and you will get there, as did most of us out here.
