  1. Its great!! Check out your local team and see if there is a novice group that you can join. I strongly recommend it. My team is like my family and joining rowing was probably one of the best decisions of my life. You will feel and be stronger, more confident, and the feeling of being on the water is indescribable with the power surging through the boat.

See if there is a team around where you live, you should be in highschool or older.

Typically rowers wear (girls) tighter workout shirt and spandex or (guys) spandex. But, on your first week its okay to wear athletic shorts and a regular t-shirt. The shoes are attached in the boat but you should bring running shoes in case. Make sure you bring socks and a water bottle as well.

You don't really need to know anything about how to row if you are joining a novice team because they teach you everything you need to know, and you don't have to be athletic (I joined as a weakling haha and now I'm in the A boat) but it will help you to swim and run to test your endurance and try erging as well (but try to get someone to teach you to erg or else you could injure yourself).

Good luck and I recommend joining!!
