Well i'm 15 now and I live in New Zealand. I have always really, really wanted to move to America because I love big places and action. When I finish New Zealand high school I would like to move there but I'm quite academic and I want to do some sort of university course. First I want to know why you guys think it is worth moving to America and secondly can you give me advice on achieving my goal?? thanks!!

  1. You want to live in a Hub City? Move to India honey, they have the highest population.

  2. come to australia. americans are weird people sometimes.

  3. I say make good grades in school and you can get a scholarship to a school here!  That is a perfect way for you to check out things here and get and education so that the road to success is paved with gold bricks.  If you have the drive America is just the place for you.  I know that you have some very spectacular views in your country and our country has a lot too!  The American dream is to come to this country with 10 bucks in your pocket and end up a billionaire!  Anything is possible here and we are not as bad as the world seems to want to make us out to be.  Our politicians are a different story and I thing that is where we get a black eye as a country.  Study hard education is the key to success!

  4. I would suggest doing it especially with the US dollar in the toilet, you can get a good education without having to work about a crazy exchange rate that does not work in your favour.

But, as far as going to uni in the states goes.  I would actually start by looking at what you want to major in and then searching for a uni that has a great program and is respectable.  And, being an international student you also want to visit the link that has information about the support the offer for students like yourself.  Moving somewhere where you know no one and has a vastly different culture from your own is exciting at first, then "wtf mate" later.

Another thing to consider is pocket money.  Items are not as expensive in the states as they are in NZ and Australia, however, it does add up.  With you being 15, if you are truly seriously about undertaking that journey, I would suggest you start saving money now... even if it is like $20.00 a week.

  5. You most likely could come to America on a student visa.  Many people do this.  Most universities have the great action that you mentioned you desired.  Just continue to do good academically and apply to about 5 to 10 universities, one is bound to sponsor you for a visa.  Also if you want big action, go to a school in a big city because there are quite a few quiet slow suburbs in the United States.

I don't how I would convince you to come to America.  Some cities are nice places to live as I'm guessing there is in New Zealand.  But if you want a good place to get a good education then keep your grades up and apply to some universities here.  Might as well apply to some in Australia as well as some other people suggested.  Good luck.
