Question:

Advice from avid runners, what is a good way to build my stamina for running up?

I've never been much of a runner, I was in track but I was a thrower, volleyball and softball I never ran for long amounts of time. I'm out of shape and doing different workouts. I want to start walking and being able to jog more often, and for longer spurts.

How do I do this without "killing" myself? I'm willing to work hard to obtain my goal. I eventually want to be able to jog/run 2 miles without stopping. How do I work up to this?

Leaving for the Air Force hopefully at the end of August or September and want to be able to keep up with the pack.

Thanks.

  1. Long easy runs.  Just go as far as you can for like 15 minutes then just add on time after a while.  Take a day or two off a week and you should be ready.  Good Luck in the Air Force

  2. jog at high altitudes, just start slow and build up, but push yourself every time. the weird thing about jogging is the first ten minutes hurt but then you get comfortable with it and can jog for as long as you want past that point. good luck.
