Question:

Advice in math? (7th grade?)?

I need advice to be successful in math this year.

I'm in advanced math, so I need a B or higher to stay in it. Last year I struggled with just staying at an A-, and that was pre-algebra, and now I'm going into Algebra 1 and i'm just in 7th grade!

So for one is it really hard?

and for two what are some ways I can try to help myself understand the material better and lessen confusion?

  1. With an A- in pre-algebra last year you demonstrated a pretty good grip on the subject matter.  If history is any indication of your success in mathematics you may receive a similar grade assuming you devote as much study time as you did to pre-algebra.

Use representative examples in your sub-topics to help guide you in solving problems. Pay attention to the order of operations and think logically.  Your algebraic skills will lead you through higher math courses if you decide to pursue this field.

One method for assisting you understand the material better is called; mnemonics or memory aids. These consist of short words or phrases that are useful for recalling formulas or sequences in mathematics.

If you choose to pursue an advanced degree in this field, you will find many open doors in many fields.  Good luck.

  2. Well. I'm just starting Algebra 1 as well.

And to be honest, since its the beginning, I'd say its really easy.

But what technique I'm using is just simply listen and take notes of things I may forget, things that will help me with the concept and key things.

    hope I helped a little.

    :)

  3. I took Algebra I in 8th grade. It's not too hard, but I can't really say since I'm a math fan. Try your best. If it's too difficult, you can always move down.

  4. Wow, I'm in advanced too, eighth grade, and i'm doing algebra 1

    That's hard stuff.

    But uh

    Good Luck!
