Better to travel by bus as trains are not in good conditions. You can easily find a luxury coach which will be comfortable. But decision is yours.

The train from Blore to Mlore takes around 12 hours.

then from mlore to kollur in a bus takes around 4 hours.

Total travel time would be 16 hours.

I would suggest you a bus(comfortwise prefer a volvo) from Blore to Kundapur. From Kundapur Kollur is half an hour in express bus.

Also the total travel time would be around 11 hours.

Take a night bus from Bangalore to Kollur. It's comfortable and you will not waste a whole day. The trains are not that nice. But make sure it's Volvo, otherwise you will hate yourself.
