Ok, I got good enough grades to get into an animal college, the only thing is they have no spaces. Grrrrr, so, I have applied for another college and I am doing Child Care. The thing is I hate children and I hate everything about them. This is my ownly other option. I have to do this for a year and stick with it.

I finally applied today after many tears. Then an idea came into my head, as I want to work with animals, I would get a full or close to full time job working with animals. This way I can get both experince and Money.

If the minimum wage in England is £5.00 an hour, and I work 4-5 hours a day, that would get me £100 a week, x 4, £400 a month.

Then In January I will re-apply for th animal course early enough to ensure that I get in. Does this sound better. I will be so muchhappier. I cried everyday because of my other course, thanks.

  1. Go for it.

Life is hard, but you can do it.

  2. A good idea! But you must remain focused on your goal. Don't get distracted by: coworkers and friends..."need" to spend money on clothing, mobile phones, etc. Good luck!

  3. have u thought about going to college and doing science and any other subjects that are animal related? maybe a-levels instead?

this means u could go onto university and specialise there, and they'll be more places so u wont get rejected it zoology, veterinary science etc

your young, and obviously intelligent...don't waste it doing something u hate i.e child care, and i wouldn't go into work either as you'll be getting more like £4 an hour as ur only 16 and that'd if ur lucky!

speak to a school careers advisor or even a vet (if thats what u wanna be) ask them what qualifications u think they'll want...

good luck :) and keep at it!

  4. yes its a good idea and i guess it will work.

  5. Yes, that sounds like a much better idea. If you hate working with children, you're going to hate even more learning every possible detail about working with children. Children require a lot of patience - it's not for you. Stick with what you love! Check out all the jobs having to do with pets - working in a pet store, a vet's office, there are shorter courses for dog grooming here ( I don't know about in England) but there are some 3 mth. courses dealing with animals that you might want to look into and then you could get a job doing that for a while until your course starts. But don't do something you hate, it's going to be such a drain for you.....

  6. you could always try the local veterinary practises around your area

  7. Sounds like a good plan to me.  As long as your financial needs are met, I say go for it.

Make sure you apply to Animal College early enough to get accepted this time.  You don't want to go through the same thing again.

  8. Hi Jordan,

Life is short and you must live your dream.

Working for one year is nothing at your age and it is a very good idea to try to get something which may be close to working animals, even if it was in a pet shop or something like that.

My other top tip is to consider trying to do some voluntary work involving animals.  That will impress the college for next time round.

    Good luck!

  9. Thats the same as me lol I did start off in a photography course but tht didnt work out so i decided to do animal care, but there is no room on the course tht i wanted to do so now i am going to do childcare only mine is for 2 years. Then ocne i have done that i think i will go do animal care aswell. And getting a job in a place with animals will give you a big advantage on geting in to next years animal care course.  So all of it is a really good idea.

Also what is the chances of your name being Jordan aswell lol my names jordan lol but people call me Jord for short lol. I aint joking either seriously lol... how freaky is tht lol .

  10. yeh..u kinda answered the question urself..ud be much happier..go for it!!

  11. minimum wage is £3.50 for our age

that means we got about £150 a week

    which isnt too bad

  12. if it will work, go for it!
