I was working for a venue organising and promoting live music and entertainment, my Ipod was playing behind the bar during the night for the music in between acts. I accidentally left it there overnight, in the morning it had disappeared. Can I ask the manager to claim from the pub insurance to get me a new one? What should I do? Thankyou.

  1. you got no chance unless your boss is one in a million

  2. Well, unfortunately, the pub would more than likely NOT have insurance for others property and they would not be liable for your loss since it was your responsibility to keep track of it.  You would be more likely to get this paid under your homeowners or renters insurance.

Was the pub in charge of your Ipod?  In other words, were they the ones playing the music from your Ipod?  Or were you the one playing it.  If THEY were in charge of the Ipod, you might be able to convince them to buy you a new one, but would you really want to burn the bridge with this bar?  It may not be worth jeopardizing future gigs in this bar for the few hundred dollars you would gain by getting a new Ipod.

    Good luck to you!

  3. I think you are stuffed. I normally would've said that your iPod would be covered on your home insurance under the All Risks section. But seeing as how you were using it in connection with your company's business, you wouldn't be able to do that. I have to presume you company never thought to get such an extension added to their own policy, so it would be up to the company you work for to compensate you themselves.
