Question:

Advice needed on ants.?

I live in an apartment. I found two black winged ants in the same area of my kitchen - one last night and one this morning. They're not termites. (I looked up the pictures.) I also found a few ants crawling on my shower-head and on my bathroom floor.

I've been living here for nearly a year and I've never had any problem with ants until now. The climate is getting warmer and I've been opening my windows. The windows don't have screens on them, unfortunately.

Any advice on getting rid of these suckers? Thank you!

  1. boric acid along the floor seams inside will prevent any insect from crossing the border.

It is inert which means that as long as it does not get wet it is effective.  I am currently using some I bought 30 years ago but needed now.

It is harmful to pets and should not be used around foodstuffs, but it has been my experience when I called poison control about it they said my 74 lb dog would need to eat about 20lbs of it to get really sick.

I use it for giant water bugs that come in from the creek.

  2. Close the windows and get an AC

  3. I use Raid Ant Killer that lasts like 4 weeks. I get them in the shower and around the shower and of course in the kitchen.

Keep it clean and tidy (as I am sure you do) and spray where they enter, around doors, along the corner of the floor and wall. I have great success with it.

I don't like using poison but I dislike ants more.

  4. Use Triazicide and follow directions. Works every time.
