I transferred between hotels 3 weeks ago but still work for the same group. My pay packet this month should of come from the new hotel but they have missed me off de to a new accountant starting. Im guessing tomorrow ill get given a check which means another week of waiting for money when im broke as it is and have bills to pay! IS there anyway i can complain to this or recover any bank charges ill incur due to not having cash in my account. Ive been a loyal employee for the group for 2 years now!

  1. No, i doubt it. Its not really your employers issue if you don't have money in your bank even if its there s***w up and you have to expect some wait in them adding you to there payroll. Its not instant and you should appreciate that it takes time for them to get all your details from the other hotel and get the money into your account. 2 years is nothing in employee world and time with a compnay doesn't mean a great deal and doesn't give you any leway. Go and see your HR and see if they can help you out.

  2. If you did everything correctly and told your last employer that you were leaving and going to work for another in the same group three weeks is plenty of time to sort someones wages out.

It is not your fault that they have employed an incompetent accountant and you should not be made to wait any longer for your pay.

Ask your employer to contact the wages department and ask if they can do a bank transfer directly into your account, tell them that their error is costing you money in bank charges and its unacceptable for them to expect you to wait another week.

Complain to the HR department and show them how much their error is costing you in bank charges.

  3. You're probably correct in assuming that you'll be given a cheque tomorrow.  But, why does this mean "another week of waiting for money?"  You can take it to the bank that issued it and cash it, and then put the cash into your account so that it will be available immediately.  This might be slightly inconvenient but at least it ensures that you are able to pay your bills on time and that you have some spending money.

Of course you can complain if you wish to do so, but you certainly have no legal recourse.  I would write a letter to your line manager outlining the situation and then detail exactly what charges you feel you should be compensated for.  Some employers will agree to this; others won't.  My own employer would tell me to **** off.
